YEAR_SOLICITATION OR EVENT NAME_DONOR SEGMENT, works well as a coding system, and looks like 22_YEAR END APPEAL_LYBUNT in practice. Sometimes a donor feels spontaneously generous and stops by your office with a check in hand!<\/li>\n        <li>Pull a <a href=\"https:\/\/softerware.my.site.com\/dpcommunity\/s\/article\/Gift-and-Pledge-Detail-Report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">gifts and pledges report<\/a> to obtain a list of uncoded gifts. We recommend assigning specific codes whenever possible, but for the rest, this catch-all code will help make sure they don\u2019t fall through the cracks.<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n     <header data-toc-subtag=\"Merge duplicate codes\" id=\"section-1-toc-3\">\n        <h3>Merge duplicate codes<\/h3>\n    <\/header>\n    <ul>\n        <li>Find duplicate codes by exporting all of your codes into an Excel spreadsheet. You can add a column for the code purpose to find duplicates with greater ease. For example, your 2021 Giving Tuesday campaign might have codes like \u201cGT21\u201d and \u201c21GT.\u201d<\/li>\n        <li>Use a global update to move all gifts to a fresh, new code, then delete the duplicates. <\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n<\/section>        \n<section class=\"content-section\">\n    <header data-toc-tag=\"Step 3: Merge duplicate donor records\" id=\"section-2-toc-0\">\n        <h2>Step 3: Merge duplicate donor records<\/h2>\n    <\/header>\n    <p>Have you ever mistakenly sent an appeal letter to a donor twice just because they\u2019re recorded in your database twice?
